Here is a list of common measurements that may be taken during a windows and doors measurement service:

For Windows:

  • Distance from the floor to the bottom of the window opening

  • Distance from the top of the window opening to the ceiling or soffit

  • Type of window (e.g. single-hung, double-hung, sliding, casement)

  • The dimensions of the framed opening where the patio door will be installed. This measurement includes the width and height of the opening, as well as the depth of the frame.

  • Any obstructions, such as light switches or electrical outlets, near the door opening

  • The height of the threshold or sill at the bottom of the patio door. This measurement is important for determining how high off the ground the door will be, as well as for ensuring that the door is level.

  • The number and configuration of the individual panels in the patio door. This measurement is important for determining how the door will operate and how it will look once installed.

For Glass Sealed Unit (SU)

  • Width and height of the SU

  • Thickness of the SU

  • Shape of the SU

Ultimately, the responsibility for taking accurate measurements for windows and doors will depend on the specific situation and who is involved in the project. It's important to communicate clearly with all parties involved to ensure that everyone understands their responsibilities and that the final product meets the desired specifications.
